Josh Murry-Hawkins-Artistic Director

Josh fell in love with dance as a young boy taking Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Tumbling, and Contemporary at three different studios on the Oregon Coast. Focusing on ballet he went to summer intensives at Milwaukee Ballet in WI and Joffrey Ballet in NYC on full scholarship. Instead of accepting a trainee position at Joffrey he was scouted by Jan Dijkwel, former Dutch National Ballet, to attend Brigham Young University and be a part of their ballet company. He was a full time dancer and student doing full length ballets, composition pieces, and senior projects getting attention and recognition from the dance department professors. Deciding school could wait he then auditioned for BodyVox and received a position with BodyVox-2.

Making his way into the main company he toured all over the country and Europe. In his 6 years with the company he was a part of 6 world premieres, performed and taught in their outreach program, and became a featured artist.

Josh established himself as a guest artist and freelance dancer in the greater Portland area performing with The Portland Ballet, Portland Festival Ballet, Columbia Dance, and working on projects with Michael Curry, Nick Jaina, and Christopher Peddecord.

He was a founding member of Èowyn Emerald & Dancers and toured 3 times to Scotland to perform in Edinburgh's Fringe festival, the biggest performing arts festival on the globe. The company was featured in The London Times arts section as a "Top Pick" and received glowing reviews from several international art publications. On his last tour ÈE&D received a "Sold Out" award for having an entire sold out show run for the entire Fringe festival.

Josh is currently the Dance Director of Riverside Performing Arts in Vancouver, WA. He is excited to establish roots and share his experience with the next generation of dancers and help cultivate a professional dance scene in SW Washington.
